Afghanistan vs New Zealand, CWC 2019 Stat Highlights: Kiwis Register Third Consecutive Win As Jimmy Neesham Scalps Maiden Five-Wicket Haul in ODIs
After losing a couple of games, team Afghanistan went on to play against New Zealand today at the County Ground in Taunton. Kane Williamson and men registered their third victory in the CWC 2019 as they went on to beat Afghanistan by seven wickets as they chased a total of 174 runs. Jimmy Neesham went on to be the star of the match with his maiden ODI fifer. Team Afghanistan had a good start to the match as the openers Hazratullah Zazai and Noor Ali made 34 and 31 runs respectively. But the good times didn’t last long as Neesham created havoc and snapped wickets one after the other.
Only Hashmatullah Shahidi survived and scored a half-century for the team, thus becoming the highest scorer for Afghanistan. In reply, the Black Caps lost the opener quite early in the game. But captain Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor stitched of 89 runs and stabilised the team. While Taylor missed out on his half-century by a couple of runs, Williamson scored a 50.
